VarioSens® - The Smart Card Logger

VarioSens® is a new “smart card” temperature logger that is also a RFID tag.
It does everything that a normal temperature logger can do, but also functions as a supply chain tracking tool. Anything you can do with an RFID tag, VarioSens® does it too.

What does VarioSens®?

VarioSens® ensures a permanent monitoring of temperature-sensitive goods as medical products (blood bags, serums, pharmaceuticals), easily perishable food or flowers. VarioSens® enables a fast documentation of process- and storage temperatures through the easy handling.

VarioSens® measures temperature data by means of a calibrated sensor and stores them directly on the chip.

To read out the recorded data is very easy and they can be used in several software programs. Against unauthorized access VarioSens® is secured by a 3-level-password system.

VarioSens® is provided with user-friendly software interfaces and can be integrated into customized software solutions smoothly.

How is VarioSens® used?

VarioSens® can be started by a simple starting device that is either battery powered or line powered. Just hold the card over the activation surface, listen for the beep, and it is running! No cables, cradles or connectors are required. Tags can be user configured to run for different recording times, or can be purchased with pre-programmed settings that match a particular application.

Starting can also be initiated with VarioSens® Software running on a PC with an RFID reader attached. Features such as delayed start be set up by using the PC/Software starting method.

When the recording is finished (at the end of the trip or other monitoring episode) the tag information can be downloaded either by the PC with RFID reader attached OR by a PDA with a SD- or CF-reader. A single reading takes less than 2 seconds, even for a tag that is completely full of data. The data can then be sent to a desktop printer or portable device to print out a chart that displays the entire time-temperature-profile.

There are two different types of software available for first or test applications.
The VarioSens® desktop software is suitable for PC and laptop solutions.
The new solution VarioSens® mobile software is suitable for handheld solutions.
